I have always tried to do what my parents taught me about not cheating, lying or stealing and to look out for the other guy, those basics were reinforced by the good Sisters of St Kilians and my teachers at Mendel.
These basics helped me in the Marine Corps and through my college years and thereafter. As an attorney for over 50 years, I have tried to be fair in my dealings with clients, and opponents and feel I have been successful in that regards.
I was asked to serve as an investigator and panel member by the Chicago Bar Association to evaluate judicial candidates which requires strict confidentiality and I faithfully fulfilled my duties.
Mendel Catholic High School has had a profound positive effect on my life. I was fortunate to have wonderful Augustinian priests. such as Father Theis, Father McConville, Father Burns, Father Durant, Father Burke and especially Father “Jack” Gavin, who was our baseball coach as a Freshman and then again in my Junior and Senior years. I had wonderful lay teachers, Joe Phelan, Ben Reilly, Joe Magee and so on. I was taught to work hard and in sports give all you could , never hold back and you will always be a winner.
Two things I always tried to abide by; “Mendel Men are Gentlemen” and in the final of the Mendel (fight song, “Loyal we will always be”. Those things you never forgot. Thank you Mendel for giving me that, and it will be with me always.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
