The 2nd and 3rd years I was able to spend time at John G Shed Aquarium with the direction of their Curator of Fish, Rick Vaughan to utilzing their fish at the Shedd. What was surprising the folks at Loch Ness were interested in my recordings.)<br>Thornton Community College<br>Student Council; President: Earth Science Club; Chemistry Club Treasurer; Biology Club Member (1 &amp; 2)<br>BS, George Williams College<br>Basketball: Baseball (Softball); Student Council<br>Professionally, I am a retired CPRP (Certified Park and Recreation Professional) with NRPA (National Recreation and Park Association). I have worked a number of jobs professionally with non-profits and taxing bodies and schools. The majority of my work has been working with programming, sporting and special events.<br>I have a general interest in History and have been involved with and leading Civil War Round Tables for over 20 years. This started while offering a Park District Trip at Oakbrook Terrace Park District in 1999, &#8220;Haunted Gettysburg&#8221; with Chicagoland Ghost Hunter Richard Crowe. After the trip I was able to work with local Civil War Round Tables for programming with Park Districts and libraries. I have been written up in the Civil War Round Table Guidebooks various programming offerings. I have started a Civil War Round Table in Cedar Lake &#8211; Old Goats Civil War [NWICWA]Round Table.<br>Another historic interest and leadership role has been Historic Rt. 66 in Illinois. I offered many trips down Rt. 66 while working for the Berwyn Park District. Other Park District trips have been to the Indianapolis 500, Air Venture, EAA (Experimental Aircraft Association) Covered Bridge Festival, Holland Michigan Tulip Festival to name a few.<br>My greatest achievement might have been keeping the Markham Park District from being dissolved. I was hired under a grant from the United Way hired by the YMCA as a Program Director for the Roesner Center which was part of the Markham Park District. I felt I was able to help the District get back on track.<br>Over the years working in the Parks and Recreation Field I have worked with many college age staff and have always tried to do the right things as being a good mentor and set an example of being a professional in the field of Parks and Recreation. I like to see them do the work, think for themselves and learn while they are learning their jobs. A few of them have done very well in their professions.<br>Member of the Men of Tollentine.<br>Chair of Mendel Alumni Website Committee.<br>I have been leading meetings with the Alumni Association related to the website. I have been scanning Mendel Yearbooks, Mendelians Newspapers, Football Scrapbooks, Newspaper clippings etc. Also, photographing pictures of the Hall of Fame at St. Rita and many, many alumni events. [The Mendel website is now an excellent resource for Mendel History and current activities thanks to Rick\u2019s countless hours of hard work and leadership.]<br>Attending a Parent&#8217;s meeting with my parents I remember Father McConnville speaking and as he spoke to the group of parents he said &#8220;Today you give us your son as a boy and in 4 years we will return your son as a Man&#8221;!
