HALL OF FAME

Mendel Catholic High School

Donald Ledin

1977

Don Ledin was a head wrestling coach for 30 years. Don learned much from his mentor, the legendary Mendel coach Lou Guida, who led Mendel to 5 consecutive Chicago Catholic League Varsity Wrestling Titles and a 99 win streak record, which still stands.

He is the 1st wrestling coach at Mendel to place his wrestlers in state championship matches. Under his leadership, Mendel brought home its 2nd IHSA State Wrestling Tournament victor

Don had many accomplishments in his wrestling career: Central AAU Champion at 155 pounds in 1959 and 1960, Regional Junior College Championship in 1962 and five Chicago Open Championships

Don Ledin is beloved and respected by his peers but more importantly, by the many Mendel men whom he taught to wrestle at championship levels with an even-handed approach to discipline and teaching.
