On February 25, 2024, four exceptional Mendel Monarchs were honored with the prestigious 2024 African American Male Image Awards at the Archbishop James P. Lyke’s 30th Annual Celebration. The honorees, Richard Newton (’72), David Ireland (’78, a Mendel Alumni Association Board Member), Greg Kenner (’67), and Malik Jones (’87), were recognized for their remarkable talents, dedication, and commitment to Christian values and community service. The event was a testament to the positive impact these individuals have had on their communities, embodying the spirit of excellence and service.
