GWENDOLYN BROOKS COLLEGE
PREPARATORY ACADEMY

While Mendel closed its doors in 1988, the legacy of the blue and white lives on in the community and at Brooks Prep. With a growing student body of over 1,000 students, Brooks Prep has since become a pillar of academic excellence in the community, and continues to carry on the spirit of Mendel's commitment to education and service.

At Brooks Prep, students receive a rigorous college preparatory education that prepares them for success in college and beyond. With a strong focus on STEM fields and the arts, students have the opportunity to explore and excel in a wide range of academic and extracurricular activities. From the Robotics Club to the Debate Team, from the Jazz Band to the Theater Company, there is something for everyone at Brooks Prep.

Members of the Mendel Alumni Association Board of Directors have offered to mentor Brooks Prep students to not only support the education of future leaders, but also to strengthen the connection between two important institutions in the Roseland community. Mendel Alumni can continue to make a positive impact on the lives of young people in the area, and to help to shape the future of the community for years to come.

The Principal of Gwendolyn Brooks High School encourages Mendel High School Alumni to visit Brooks Prep at any time to rekindle old memories. She suggested that Mendel Alumni plan to attend the Brooks Prep Homecoming Football game in the Fall. Follow the Mendel Website for additional information.
