Celebrating Derek C. Lott ’84 and the Mendel Minute
The Mendel Alumni Association is proud to shine a spotlight on Derek C. Lott ’84, whose recent Mendel Minute videos have brought a new level of clarity, energy, and professionalism to our alumni communications. Derek has long been known for his ability to command a room, connect with people, and deliver a message with purpose. Seeing those strengths put to work for the Mendel community feels like a true gift.
Derek has built an impressive career as a public speaker, coach, and communicator. He has spent decades helping leaders sharpen their message, elevate their presence, and deliver with confidence. His work as an author and as the host of his “Goal Camp” podcast reflects the same passion he brings to every project: helping people rise to their potential and reach a standard they didn’t realize they could achieve.
What makes Derek so valuable to the Mendel family is not just his skill, but the way he represents our shared values. He leads with excellence. He listens. He communicates with heart and authenticity. When he steps in front of the camera for a Mendel Minute, he carries all of us with him—reminding us who we are and why this community still matters.
His achievements on the national stage, including competing at the highest levels of public speaking, are a point of pride for all Monarchs. But it’s his willingness to turn around and give his time, talent, and voice back to his alma mater that truly stands out.
We are fortunate to have Derek as part of this association, and we look forward to more Mendel Minutes, more inspiration, and more chances to learn from one of the best communicators to ever walk our halls.
If you haven’t already, subscribe to his Instagram channel. Don’t have Instagram? No problem, we will post the Mendel Minute here as well!
Thank you, Derek, for representing Mendel with distinction—and for reminding us that once a Monarch, always a Monarch.
