Mendel Catholic Prep is proud to share that alumnus Judge Fred Bates (Class of 1976) will be recognized at the 2026 Vanguard Awards, taking place on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at the Union League Club of Chicago.

The Vanguard Awards celebrate individuals and organizations who have made a lasting impact on the legal profession by advancing accessibility, equity, and service within the community. Judge Bates’ selection as an honoree reflects a career dedicated to justice, leadership, and meaningful contributions to the field of law.

The event will begin with an 11:30 a.m. reception, followed by a 12:00 p.m. luncheon, where Judge Bates will be honored alongside other distinguished members of Chicago’s legal community.

As a member of Mendel’s Class of 1976, Judge Bates represents the strength, character, and commitment to service that continues to define the Mendel legacy. His recognition is a proud moment for the entire Mendel community.
