Step into the story of America, 250 years in the making!

Step into a lively, open-air celebration of America’s 250th at Buckley Homestead.

History Speaks: America 250 brings the past to life with historical interpreters, live music, hands-on activities, and plenty to explore at your own pace. As you wander the grounds, you’ll meet iconic figures from across American history, each ready to share their story in their own words.

Plan your day around featured presentations in the main barn:
10:15 AM – Abraham Lincoln
10:30 AM – John Adams
11:00 AM – Al Capone
12:00 PM – Mamie Eisenhower
1:00 PM – Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
2:00 PM – Music of America

Between presentations, keep an eye out for historical faces as they make their way through the grounds, or take a seat for a hand-cut silhouette portrait to bring a piece of the day home with you.

You can also explore “The Great War: From Ration Lines to the Front Lines,” a special exhibit highlighting Indiana’s role in World War I, from the home front to the global stage.

Spend a summer day discovering something new, whether that’s a well-known voice brought to life or a story you’ve never heard before. With interactive experiences, engaging performances, and room to roam, this event is designed for curious kids, lifelong learners, and anyone looking for something a little different to do.

Stay awhile or drop in, there’s always something happening.
