MONARCHS WHO DIED IN THE LINE OF DUTY

August 30, 2022

The Mendel Catholic Prep community holds in its heart the brave alumni who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to their country and communities. Nineteen Men of Mendel lost their lives in the line of duty—some as courageous soldiers in the Vietnam War, and others as dedicated police officers protecting Chicago and its suburbs. From Edwin Heisse (Class of 1957), who fell in Vietnam on April 24, 1971, to Patrick J. Crowley (Class of 1963), who gave his life as a Chicago police officer on September 13, 1976, these heroes embody the spirit of service and valor instilled at Mendel. Their enduring legacy inspires the alumni community to continue their tradition of courage, sacrifice, and community dedication.
