On Saturday, September 30th at 3am central time (10am Rome Local time), Archbishop Robert Prevost, O.S.A., will formally become a Cardinal during the Vatican Consistory.

He began his first assignment as a teacher at Mendel Catholic High School in Chicago and Tolentine College in Olympia Fields, Illinois. He continued his ministry in teaching and formation at St. Augustine Seminary in Holland, Michigan, and the Augustinian Novitiate at Oconomowoc, Wisconsin.

Archbishop Prevost served for over a decade in the Augustinian Missions in Peru, was the Prior Provincial of our Midwest Augustinian Province of Our Mother of Good Counsel, served as the Prior General (or worldwide leader) of the Augustinian Order for two terms, was the Bishop of the Diocese of Chiclayo, and was appointed Prefect of the Dicastery for Bishops in 2023.

Several members of our Province, including Prior Provincial Fr. Tony Pizzo, O.S.A., will be in Rome to attend the Consistory and congratulate Cardinal Prevost. You can join them virtually by watching the livestream of the Consistory at the link below (which will also include a replay feature).

Please join us in congratulating Cardinal Prevost and in praying for him in his new role.
