The Rev. Gregor Mendel, O.S.A. Science & Technology Hall at St. Rita High School, which is the new permanent home for Mendel Memorabilia, trophies, and the Mendel Alumni Association Hall of Fame, was rededicated on January 10, 2024.  The Rededication of the Rev. Gregor Mendel, O.S.A. Science & Technology Hall included a Mass that was attended by the entire St. Rita school body and featured a wonderful homily by Fr. Tom McCarthy, O.S.A., followed by a blessing of Mendel Hall and a reception for Mendel Alumni.

The new display area includes a portrait of Gregor Mendel, photos of the Mendel Campus, a story of the history of Mendel Catholic High School, a photo and information about our founder, Fr. John Seary, O.S.A.,  as well as a video with scrolling profiles of the Members of the Mendel Alumni Association Hall of Fame, and the fifteen Monarchs who died in Vietnam.

The seniors from St. Rita who attended the event, many of whom had family members who are alumni of Mendel, were eager to share the exciting news that Mendel Hall is now open with their relatives.

After the event concluded, Josh Blaszak ’02, the Principal of St. Rita, expressed his heartfelt gratitude, remarking, “Thank you. Everything looks great and it was a wonderful morning. Thank you and all the Mendel Alums for all you do.” His words underscored the deep appreciation for the collective efforts of the Mendel community in making the event a success.

This was a great event that will make every Mendel Man proud for years to come! Thank you to Andy Youpel (’66), Pat Regan (’68), Rick Zarr (’71) and our Webmaster, John Dreznes (son of Jack Dreznes (’66)) for making this dream come true!
